Technology

Devices - Use and Care 

All students should have their device checked-out to them.  Please talk with your child about appropriate care and use of their device.  A reminder that although the device is checked out to them, it is the property of Minneapolis Public Schools.  We ask that all students only use their device for educational purposes.

Parent-Family Communication: Talking Points

This year, teachers are moving to using the newer platform of Talking Points.  This is a text option for families in a classroom.  Please remember that if you respond to the group text chain, all members of the group are able to see the response.  If you want to directly message the teacher, you are able to do this as well.  Thanks everyone.  We will be sharing more information on this in the coming weeks. 

Cell Phones, Smart Watches, and Social Media

  • We are a Cell Phone and Active Smartwatch FREE school.  What does this mean?  It means that if your child has a cell phone and is required to bring it to school, I would encourage them to turn it into their teacher or front desk until the end of the day.  Our lockers are not secured, and LNCS Keewaydin is not responsible for lost or stolen devices.  
  • If your child is required to wear a SmartWatch device, please deactivate this during the school day, so that it is not a temptation to use this during the day.  Should staff find/see students using their smartwatch, your child will be required to take it off, and turn into the teacher for the day.  If this continues, they will need to leave it at home, or make a plan with the student support team.  
  • If you need to get ahold of your child during the school day, PLEASE contact the main office, and we will have them call you from the office.   If there is a transportation change, the only way that staff will approve of this change is through the teacher or main office.  This is due to liability.
